Terms of use
Last updated 8 September 2026. GoldenHour is made by TimpCreative. Using the app or this site means you agree to these terms.
What the app is
GoldenHour estimates golden-hour light from public weather forecasts, terrain data and solar geometry. Every score, window and shadow is a prediction. Forecasts are wrong sometimes, terrain data has gaps, and the app cannot see the sky. Use it to plan, then use your eyes.
The app is not a safety tool. It does not know about closures, hazards, private land, tides or weather that endangers you. You are responsible for where you go and when.
Purchases
- GoldenHour Pro and GoldenHour Supporter are one-time purchases made through the App Store or Google Play. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
- A purchase unlocks features on the devices signed in to the same store account. Restore purchases from Settings on a new device.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. If a purchase does not unlock, email hello@timpcreative.com first; most cases are a restore.
- Supporter perks (a room in the GoldenHour Discord, a credit in About, early betas) are goodwill extras. They may change as the app changes; the Pro features stay.
- The free tier keeps the full prediction. We do not move features from free to paid after you have installed the app.
Your content
If you send a check-in or photo after a golden hour, you give TimpCreative a licence to use it to evaluate and improve the forecast. Photos are stored without metadata and with a location rounded to about 25 km, as the privacy page describes. Send only photos you took.
Newsletter and announcements
The newsletter is opt-in with a confirmation email; every issue has an unsubscribe link. Push announcements are off until you turn them on in Settings and can be turned off there.
Data sources
Weather comes from Open-Meteo, terrain from AWS Terrain Tiles, maps from Apple Maps or Google Maps. Their terms apply to their data. The app credits them in Settings.
No warranty
The app and site are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, TimpCreative is not liable for missed light, wasted trips or any loss arising from a prediction.
Changes
These terms may change as the app changes. The date at the top moves when they do, and a change that matters shows as an announcement in the app.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
